Miracles Made Easy
I’d had an orange allergy since I was a child. My entire life had been adapted to compensate for it.
In comparison to some of the other things I dealt with, it was a minor condition, but still potentially life-threatening.
This book excerpt was taken from Charis Bible College Instructor Carlie Terradez's new book, Miracles Made Easy.
Once, I experienced vomiting and inflamed skin at a friend’s house after touching one of her tables. She didn’t know about my allergy and had recently cleaned the dining table with an orange-oil-based cleaner.
It is alarming now to think about everything I did to ensure no orange products made it into our home. Not only did I eliminate oranges and orange juice from my family’s diet, but I also never used orange-oil cleaning products or lotions.
One afternoon, it suddenly hit me that God’s promises covered every detail of my life and that I didn’t have to live with second best any longer—not even in regard to allergies.
“I believe it!” I shouted, standing alone in my kitchen.
I couldn’t wait for Ashley, my husband, to come home from work so that I could tell him what happened to me. The minute he walked through the door, I explained what the Lord had shown me and asked him to pray with me. I wanted to try my new healing out, but there was nothing in my house to test it on.
The next day I went to a Bible study. When refreshments were passed, I grabbed a cup of coffee and a piece of carrot cake. “Wait, Carlie!” my friend cautioned. “That one has orange juice in it!”
“Oh, good,” I said. “Give me a big slice. I want to test out my new healing.”
My friends thought I was crazy, but I was convinced God had healed me and was not going to be talked out of eating that cake. It was good! And I have been eating oranges ever since without any problems.
From then on, the way we respond to sickness in our house has changed. It’s not that we don’t have the opportunity to be sick, but we have learned not to tolerate it. We despise sickness as much as sin; we don’t want it in our lives in any form. If even cold symptoms start creeping up, we get mad. How dare the devil try to make us sick? We are the temple of the Holy Spirit. Satan does not have permission to mess with our bodies!
Anytime we’re faced with challenges or a bad medical report, the rubber of our faith meets the road.
Are we going to choose to believe the truth of God’s Word? Are we going to follow Jesus’ example and fight the good fight of faith with our words? Let us choose wisely—that we may live the life God intended (Deut. 30:19).
