The Holy Ghost highlighter
The amount of teaching imparted during first year at Charis has very lovingly been described by students as trying to take a drink from a fire hose!
All of the amazing Biblical teaching is just impossible to swallow all at once. Thankfully, I have a dad who is full of wisdom, and he shared a very valuable piece of advice with me, which he learned from his years in Bible college. I think all CBC students can benefit from his advice.
My dad told me that he had a special colored highlighter that he called his Holy Ghost highlighter.
As he was sitting in class, he would listen for specific points or scriptures that stood out to him. He would know that these were the things he needed to spend more time on, so he would highlight them in his special color.
Later, when he would sit down to study, he would focus on the points he highlighted. I thought this idea was brilliant, so I put it into practice during my first year at Charis.
Within the first couple of weeks, I realized how valuable his advice truly was. There was no way I could have studied four hours worth of notes when I got home each day. There just wasn’t enough time.
Instead, I would come home and only focus on those four or five things that I knew the Holy Spirit highlighted for me to study.
I can say from experience that this practice took a lot of the pressure off and gave me ample time to study, pray, and meditate on the things Father was communicating to me personally.
So, my question to you is: What color highlighter will you choose?
