Just How Blessed Are We Really?
Adapted from a recent Bible Study with Andrew Wommack
Deuteronomy 28 lists all the blessings and all the curses of the law. Verses one through fourteen list all the blessings, and God wants to bless us in all these ways:
“Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field.” —Deuteronomy 28:3
City or country, that basically covers everywhere.
“Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body … ground … cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep.” —Deuteronomy 28:4
The “fruit of your body” means your children will be blessed. “Thy ground” is talking about your crops. When He says “thy cattle, kine and sheep,” He’s saying He’ll bless your animals and everything you own!
“Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store.” —Deuteronomy 28:5
Your “basket” and your “store” are speaking of the place you put anything that’s extra. Many people don’t have anything “in store,” so God can’t bless it. Open a savings account if you don’t have one—even if it’s with only a dollar. God can bless it!
“Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out.” — Deuteronomy 28:6
We’re all either coming or going, so that means we are blessed always!
“The LORD shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee seven ways.” —Deuteronomy 28:7
The blessing of God means your enemies will come against you one way, and God will cause them to flee seven ways!
“The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.” —Deuteronomy 28:8
You need to have a “storehouse,” a place to keep your “extra” so God can bless it. If you have something go wrong with your car, you need to have the money to fix it.
God will bless all that you set your hand to!
Unfortunately, some are setting their hands to nothing, and a hundred times zero is zero. You have to do something. It would be better to go get a job that pays less than welfare.
Lately, because of stimulus benefits, people are making more money on unemployment than if they got a job.
“And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee.” —Deuteronomy 28:10
God wants to give us so much favor that everyone else will take notice.
That’s how blessed we really are!
