Why Is Christian Life So Hard?
Many people today think relationship with God and the Christian life are hard and reserved only for a hand full of special people.
Christian life is only seen as hard when we believe God is angry, distant and intolerant of people and when we make Christian life all about rules, regulations, qualifications and standards!
There’s also that deep-seated belief that everything worthwhile only happens through hard work and sacrifice. There are a great many things that are difficult, but not our spiritual lives nor our relationship with God.
Jesus promised us that our relationship with God and experiencing the good life is so easy, even you can do it!
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” —Matt. 11:28-30
Here Jesus says when we come to Him, relationship and the blessings of Christian life are easy, restful and light.
Jesus made it easy for everyone!
In 2 Peter 3:8-9, Peter says God is holding back the end because "He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance!"
God wants everyone to be saved.
That means no man has to be excluded from this relationship with God. He wouldn’t make it obtainable for some and not for others.
There’s no one too weak, too strong, too sinful, too poor, too rich, too foolish, too wise nor too far away!
Paul said God wants all men to come unto the knowledge of the truth. The truth about what? The truth of how easy it really is because of the finished work of Jesus. Jesus did everything necessary for every person to have and experience the benefits of relationship with God.
There is only one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and people—Jesus Christ—and make the blessings of the kingdom available to everyone who will simply believe and trust in Him! (1 Tim. 2:5-6)
