Living in Freedom Through Resurrection Power
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” –John 8:36
As believers, we have the same new life on the inside of us that Jesus had when He was raised from the dead!
You are no longer an “old sinner” if you are born again. That person is dead. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away” (2 Cor. 5:17). The resurrection power on the inside of you has freed you from sin and your past!
Does that mean we won’t sin ever again? No, of course not. We can choose to be disobedient and live a carnal, selfish life, but why would you want to? That will only stop the resurrection power from working in your life.
Now it’s time to let go of your past and reach for what is ahead of you! (Phil 3:13)
Have you ever noticed that the more you try to stop doing something bad, the more you do it? That’s because you don’t overcome sin with willpower. You overcome sin with resurrection power!
Focus on the new life and the power God has already put within you by meditating on His word and praying. Then you will be strengthened by the Holy Spirit, and that resurrection power inside you will give you the ability to overcome that sin!
Just as resurrection power sets you free from the past and sin, it will set you free from fear and anxiety over the future. Jesus defeated fear and worry, too! You don’t have to live in fear another day—not another second.
Matthew 6:25-33 tells us that we don’t have to worry about anything. God knows what we need. Our job is to seek Him and His kingdom, and He will take care of the rest.
