Grace: A student must demonstrate his/her understanding of the grace of God as described in the Bible, specifically New Testament scriptures. The grace of God is His friendly disposition from which many kindly acts proceed—His graciousness, loving kindness, and general good will. God’s grace is given to men and He takes joy and pleasure in our acceptance of it. You must be able to translate into your daily life the principle of grace in your relationship with other people. You must be willing to listen and understand the heart of your teachers and fellow students. You must master the art of forgiveness. You must see the best in people and overlook human faults. You must be able to work with those with whom you may disagree.
Servanthood: You, as a student at CBC, must be ardently devoted to the cause of Jesus Christ and be willing to put the needs of others ahead of your own desires. You must be willing to follow instructions and rules. You must be faithful in doing your assignments. You must be able to find opportunities on your own to serve the school, staff, fellow students, and others.
Character: It is defined by the example of our Lord Jesus Christ and further explained by the writers of the Bible. This is measured by your attendance record, faithfulness in paying tuition, obeying rules, and living by the highest moral and ethical standards.
Methods of measuring a student’s progress
- Tests are given for each class taught. If you receive below 70% on a test, you may correct the wrong answers, to receive a passing grade of 70%. It is the student’s responsibility to arrange with the apprentice giving the test to correct the wrong answers within a week of the day the test was first given.
- If you are not able to satisfactorily complete the work in a term, you will not be permitted to enter the next term of study. The one exception to this is that the incomplete Fall Term can be made up in Summer School. Once all three terms of the first year of study are complete then you are permitted to enter the second year of study (on the next start date).
- One way in which we will measure your progress in the area of servanthood is that you will receive mission points for your participation in fundraising activities such as the Expand Your Vision Weekend, Women’s Conference, Walk-a-thon, Men’s Advance, and others. These fundraisers not only help to raise money for the mission trips, but also train a student to work for the good of the entire student body.
- To fulfill Student Ministry requirements, each First Year student is required to volunteer 25 hours of his/her time in a local church, church-related ministry, or other approved ministry during each term. A maximum of 5 hours per week is allowed.
