Excused Absence Policy

You may be granted an excused absence with the approval of the Dean of Students if you are a daytime student, or the Night School Director if you are a nighttime student. You must complete and submit an Excused Absence Request form prior to the time requested. Upon review, your request will be returned marked either "approved" or "denied.".

An excused absence must be arranged in advance, except in cases of emergencies. Call the school office as soon as possible when some emergency arises, such as hospitalization, death in the family, accidents, bad weather, or something over which you have no control.

These are the only excused absences (except for emergencies): death in the family (spouse, child, parents, grandparents, and sibling), court date, jury duty, hospitalization, automobile accident, approved CBC mission trip, and sick children.

  1. Work is not an excused absence.

  2. Holidays or vacations are not excused absences.

  3. Weddings are not excused absences.

  4. Visiting family or friends are not excused absences.

Business, medical, and social appointments should be made for non-school hours. That is the way you will do it in ministry.

If classes are missed for any reason, excused or otherwise, it is your responsibility to see the instructor or apprentice for any tests or assignments.

Snow days: CBC almost never closes because of snow. If you live in an area where there is enough snow to make the roads dangerous to drive on, contact us about an excused absence. When the roads are slippery from snow, please drive carefully. If having to drive slower makes you late, please let us know this and you will be excused. Watch Channel 11 KKTV for school closings or delays.

Weddings: It is strongly recommended that you not plan a wedding during the school year. If you are planning to be married, we suggest that you plan the wedding for the end of a school year and, in the meantime, seek premarital counseling.
