Attendance Policy

Attendance is taken seriously at Charis Bible College. We believe attendance is important and can reflect a standard of excellence that is needed in the one who is called by God. Since you have made the sacrifice to attend CBC, and are paying tuition to be here, you should carefully consider how you use your time. A key aspect of ministry is attendance, which essentially is faithfulness. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the following policies.

Attendance will be monitored by a card scan system. Your attendance card is your student identification card, which we will issue to you. Each day of classes, you will be required to scan your card upon arrival to check in, and at departure to check out, in order to be recorded as present. Any day a scan is missed will be recorded as an absence. You will be allowed up to four absences per term, which results in an automatic 5% reduction in your attendance grade. You will receive an additional 5% reduction in your attendance grade for each absence beyond the first four.

  • If your attendance grade falls below 75%, your overall grade will be reduced by 10%.
  •
  • If your attendance grade falls below 65%, your overall grade will be reduced by 20%.
  •
  • If your attendance grade falls below 55%, your overall grade will be reduced by 30%.
  • If you scan someone else’s card, or if you ask someone else to scan your card, you both will receive a 0 (zero) for your attendance grade that term, and you both will be subject to immediate dismissal from the school.

Parents arriving late due to children’s schedules need to see the Dean of Students for approval of your schedule. Due to liability issues and disruption to the classes, children are not allowed at school or in the break room.

Class attendance is expected. If you are found outside of class during class time, you will be reminded to get into class. We will give verbal directives to students who are late for class or wandering in the hallways between classes. If we notice a pattern of consistently late, leaving early, or leaving during class, we will give written notice as your failure to comply. After the written notice, you will be given a 5% reduction in your attendance grade for each subsequent violation.
