Trip To The State Capitol
The Lord is doing great things in the Charis Third Year Practical Government School.
On January 31, the school travelled to Denver, Colorado to observe the Colorado State Senate in action. There, we met with several conservative, Christian senators, including Sen. Owen Hill, Sen. Kevin Lundberg and former Sen. Dave Schultheis. We watched the whole Senate in session and then observed the important Committee for State, Veterans and Military Affairs.
Afterwards, the students were able to meet with Senators Hill and Schultheis in a private session, where they shared their hearts and vision for carrying out the Great Commission within the context of their calling into politics and government.
One of our students summed up her experience at the State Capitol: “From sitting briefly in this committee meeting I can see a distinctive line in how different worldviews can cause a nation to prevail or to fail. When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn. [Proverbs 29:2]”
Another student said, “This [was] another significant learning experience for me and I believe for al the members of our class in the Practical Government School. We have heard much about the ‘theory’ of running for office and creating good legislation, but to see in action men who are doing what we heard about and to hear from them their depth of commitment was inspiring and motivating.”
With God’s help, we ARE equipping our students to go into all the world, including government, and make a positive difference for Christ and His Kingdom!
