Remembering the outcasts"You can have a freshly-minted hundred-dollar bill and another that’s been passed around for years, getting torn and dirty, but regardless of what they look like, they both hold the same value"

Ricky Burge at CharisCharis alum Ricky Burge goes on to say, "It’s the same with people. We can dismiss others, lock them up, forget about them, but God still sees them. He remembers their destinies. He still loves them.”

This amazing revelation sets Ricky Burge and his ministry apart. Whether he’s witnessing to a man just released from prison or to the poorest of the poor in Africa, Ricky is living the Gospel by remembering the outcasts of society.

As a Charis Bible College student, Ricky looked for ways to demonstrate the Gospel, and he discovered the Cheyenne Mountain Reentry Center, where he volunteered by mentoring men who were inmates.

As he developed relationships with them, Ricky was able to speak into their lives and help them discover who God created them to be. Several of the men now realize that their actions haven’t disqualified them and are crying out to God and being filled with the Holy Spirit.

In 2012, Ricky graduated from Charis and heard about Andrew Wommack Ministries’ projects in Karamoja. Something in Ricky’s spirit sparked when he heard about the team at Charis Uganda and working with the forgotten people of Karamoja.

A few logistical details—and a long flight—later, and Ricky was on the ground in east Africa as a representative of both Andrew Wommack Ministries and Charis Bible College.

Today he splits his time between Karamoja, overseeing Andrew Wommack Ministries' projects there, and Kampala, helping the Charis Uganda extension school.

Though extremely busy, Ricky also feels very fulfilled.

“I was born for this,” he declares. “The outcasts of society remind me that God is aware of each of us individually. It doesn’t matter what we may have done—or not done—we can never lose our value to God!”
